Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant will aid physicians and nursing staff with patient personal care and health-related procedures as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision, provides direct patient care to teens and young adults.
- Aid physicians and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
- Document care provided and report changes in health status to Nursing supervisor.
- Make sure patients have proper medication dosages
- Monitoring vitals and patient behavior and reporting them to the nursing and medical staff.
- Assisting patients with mobility needs, transferring them from wheelchair to bed
- Turning or adjusting patients in bed to prevent bedsores or other discomfort
- Exercising patients by helping them walk.
- Grooming and bathing patients with low mobility, as needed.
- Preparing patient rooms in Nursing medical ward with necessary items like blankets, pillows, medical equipment and bathroom needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain Certification and attend necessary classes to maintain position.
- Follow facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment
- Uphold HIPAA regulations

- In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations.
- Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions.
- Comfortable working with specific populations of patients, including Inmate patients and those with special needs.
- physically fit to help patients stand, walk, sit up or maneuver from their bed to other surfaces.
- Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts
Education and Experience:
- An applicable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) state certification.
- (6) months experience preferred.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
- Medical environment within a correctional facility.
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Frequent walking, bending, stooping, stretching, twisting, sitting, and reaching.
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry patients
- Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue
- Fine motor skills
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Additional Requirements
Must be willing to work flexible work schedule and dedicated overnight shifts.
